 2016 Preview 


       Last year Bibb County captured the region 4 title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Bibb County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Straughn by a score of 7-6.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Bibb County has gone a combined 50-20. Their 71.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Bibb County has managed to compile a record of 161-118. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 4A and 104th in the AHSAA.

       The Choctaws are led by head coach Matt Geohagan who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Bibb County. Under his direction the Choctaws have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Geohagan.

       Coach Geohagan's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 7-4 (63.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Geohagan's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time and won one region championship.

       The Choctaws enter the 2016 season having won 7 straight region games.

      The Bibb County Choctaws will play in Class 4A region 4 during the 2016 season.

       The Choctaws should be considered one of the favorites for the Region 4 championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Choctaws open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Jemison on Friday, August 19 at Choctaw Stadium. Last year the Jemison Panthers finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in seventh place in Class 5A region 4. The closed out the regular season with a loss to OPEN by a score of 999-999.

       Bibb County and Jemison have met a total of 35 times on the football field. The Choctaws have a 23-10-2 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2018 with Bibb County winning by a score of 65-21.

  








Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
